My Five Things #2

For the month of April, I've decided to identify five things that I will commit to that will help me make a change right now!  My Five Things #1 is to limit TV to activity time only.  In all honesty, I wasn't completely there today, but I did watch a lot less today.  And it's not April just yet, so I guess I'm working my way into the less TV.  But I'm going to try it!   And here's #2:

#2 Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day -- bed by 10:30 pm and awake by 7 am each morning.

I have never been a creature of routine.  I have been a SAHM for five years now, and I am even less routined than I have ever been.  My husband's schedule follows a pattern, but it too is never the same, so this adds to the difficulty in creating lasting routines.  But I have decided I need a better routine.  It will help give me direction in my life and ultimately the decisions I make to live better.

If I go to bed by 10:30 pm each night, I will not waste my time in front of the TV.  I will get the sleep I need to greet the new day.  I will not allow myself to stay up until all hours on the computer.  I will nurture my mind and body with a routine, with sleep, with rest.  Then I will have energy to accomplish my goals.

If I wake up at 7 am each morning, I can shower and prepare my day before my kids are up.  I will be able to accomplish so much with my day.  Get a load of laundry done.  Actually decide how I am going to use the day.

My Five Things #2 is all about routine and direction.  This routine will give me the direction I need to act, to move, to live my life.

April is all about My Five Things.  I'm excited.  Here's to a chance to continue the good fight.  It's all good.

  1. I can't remember the last time I slept until 7! Not by choice... but it seems that the older I get the earlier I wake up. But that is okay (most days) since I enjoy the quiet before the rest of the house is up and moving.

  2. My main issue is that I wait for the kids to wake me up. And then I start my day behind--needing to take care of their needs and also shower and stuff. It's like always being on defense. I'm hoping this new routine can help me focus on ME before my day starts... attacking the day on the offensive side of things.:)
